What Joy! Over time I have developed my own sense of style and approach to art with watercolor batik. This adaptation is used for creating colorful images, which are endeared by both residents and visitors alike, passing on the pleasure of my paintings.
The process uses rice paper, wax, watercolor and lots of patience. Getting to the finish line of a batik painting is not always an easy journey but the result is unlike most paintings found in many galleries. The translucent layers allow for a texturally laden image which begs the question, “How did you do that?”
Inspiration comes in many forms not the least of which are the waters, birds and landscapes of low country. Sometimes I just need to take a walk when the light is casting vivid colors in the sky or shadows with lost edges of mystery. So much to embrace with a brush. I am an artist.
