Wayne Edwards

Wayne Edwards’ paintings, sculptures and other unique works are in many churches, local homes, Belize, Puerto Rico and all over the United States.

Wayne is best known for the bronze 12-foot sundial sculpture of Neptune located in the heart of Shelter Cover Harbor on Hilton Head Island. If you tour many of the Island churches as well as a few in Beaufort, you will find many more of Wayne’s sculptures, altar furniture, crosses and oil paintings.

Wayne’s tree houses are functional as well as whimsical and can be seen in the Village of Palmetto Bluff, Moreland Landing in Palmetto Bluff, Hilton Head Island, Spring Island, Callawassie Island and Balsam Mountain, NC just to name a few.

Wayne is originally from North Carolina and moved to Hilton Head Island in 1971. He attended Ringling School of Art & Design in Florida. He also studied at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC. During a trip to Hilton Head Wayne met Charles Fraser who asked him to design playgrounds that would reflect the natural environment of the Island and also entertain and challenge children of all ages. Wayne later reproduced the Squire Pope House originally built in 1861 in the same spot in Port Royal Plantation. He along, with his father and brother, built the house in 1977 for his family.

Most recently coming to life in his studio in Okatie, SC are oil and pastel still lifes and landscapes that give the true meaning of “fine art”. There is just no end to his talents.
