Elizabeth Middour

Elizabeth Ramsey Middour enjoys an abundance of creative energy and channels it into her colorful and joyous oil paintings. Deeply inspired by her surroundings of the Lowcountry near Charleston, SC, her love of, and involvement in, the visual arts began as a child. The daughter of a professional artist, she followed her own passion for creating throughout high school, college and beyond. She credits her mother and many other wonderful teachers for helping her to identify and develop her individual style.

Always striving to grow as an artist, she enjoys painting from life both in Nature and in her creekside studio. Using oils as her medium, her painting style is representational with an emphasis on bold saturated colors, dramatic values and contrasts in light and shadow while employing loose brushstrokes with a well-trained touch. Her mission and intent when seeking subject matter is to capture a moment or a memory that speaks to her love of simplicity, the relationship between humanity and Nature, and an ever-present feeling of calm. For Elizabeth, painting is a pathway to serenity and it’s her goal to evoke this feeling in those who view her work.
