Art is not only what I do, but also who I am. It is my calling. Color, shape, form, line, texture and pattern in nature offer endless inspiration. Drawing, painting, designing and sewing are all part of my creative processes.
Drawing is a means to explore, express and design. It is the source of my artistic style. My sketchbooks are my footprints.
Botanical watercolor painting is the art form I find is closest to drawing, yet it also allows for a great versatility rendering form and color.
Plein air watercolor is a way to experience a place and record nature that is far more enduring than taking a photo. It imprints a particular sense of place in my mind.
Quilting is a very tactile and visual creative experience. My quilts are a way of sharing my love of color and shape in a very abstract way.
I am a natural teacher. I love to learn how to create new things. I taught Illustration for 20 years at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. My students fed my enthusiasm for creativity. I like to think I did the same.
