Claire’s series Harbingers focuses on light and its power to reveal form. Clarie is passionate about capturing the unique quality of light found in the Lowcountry, and uses a limited triadic color palette to achieve precise control when shifting between light and shadow.
These feathered portraits act as symbolic messengers, suggesting a coming light even as they exist in darkness. This work reflects Claire’s ongoing study of how light creates both form and meaning—an inquiry refined through her MFA studies in Art education at the University of Georgia.
