A Batik Watercolor Workshop!
One-Day Workshop with Joan Wykis
October 5th, 2026 • 9 am – 3 pm
$150 per person. Supplies included.
Join artist Joan Wykis for a colorful day of creativity as she guides participants through her multi-step batik watercolor to create “Pinkie”, a vibrant floral painting using wax, watercolor and rice paper. This workshop is designed for participants with a basic knowledge of watercolor.
About the Instructors
Linda Warner Constantino
Linda is a long time Low Country artist and taught illustration and watercolor painting at SCAD in Savannah for almost 20 years and, previously was a graphic designer at the Island Packet. She is dedicated to watercolors, both botanical and plein-air painting. She also teaches watercolor workshops in Tuscany each year at a working organic farm and recently designed and illustrated an Italian cookbook.
Glo Coalson
Glo Coalson is a Texas native. After graduating from college, she lived for two years in a small Eskimo village in Alaska and exhibited her artwork in a one person show at the Anchorage Museum of Fine Art. She left Alaska for New York city and illustrated thirty-five children’s books, some based on Eskimo themes. Glo then studied clay at Columbia University and became nationally recognized for her distinctive bird sculptures fired in the delicate art of Raku.
Pam Johnson Brickell
Pam was born and raised in New England. A graduate of the School of the Worcester Art Museum, Pam’s corporate career revolved around the business side of creativity. In 1990 she began selling her work at art fairs along the East Coast and conducting nature and illustrated journaling workshop. Pam now heads up the community of Spring Island Visual Arts Program.
Joan Wykis
Joan has developed her own sense of style and approach to art with watercolor batik. This adaptation is used for creating colorful images using rice paper, wax, watercolor and lots of patience. Getting to the finish line of a batik painting is not always an easy journey but the result is unlike most paintings found in many galleries. Her Inspiration comes in many forms not the least of which are the waters, birds and landscapes of low country.
